ABOUT THE BOOK
This book highlights the stories of five forward-thinking women. They experienced both heartbreak and joy as they found their personal courage, passions, and life work while they overcame obstacles, personal loss and outdated social norms. In this book they share their secrets for happiness, meaning, and resilience.
THESE ADVENTUROUS WOMEN EXPLORED LIFE
they valued their education, religion and their vocations. They also embraced various lifestyles and led the way for women's workplace rights. They learned new skills, took risks and upheld their own ideals. Their determination is as releveant today as it was 125 years ago when Mackie (the author's great grandmother) won her husband-to-be in a daring after-dinner bet.
THEY TRANSFORMED OBTACLES INTO OPPORTUNITIES
Mackie used faith to overcome her personal losses and spiritual struggle. Minne, her daughter, challenged the traditions of her time by obtaining her master's degree and transforming dramatic arts in the school system and small theater. Gail, her daughter, overcame both physical illness and anxiety. Sheryl, her daughter, chose a nontraditional job while raising her family. Veola, the fifth generation and the author's daughter, pursued her education obtaining a Ph.D. degree and is currently a psychology professor, Christian author and inspirational speaker.
